City Gate is an imposing development located in this much sought-after corner of Castlefield. With a canal on one side and the Mancunian Way on the other, there's a wide choice of styles, sizes and outlooks. Although it's not the most elegant of modern buildings it's much better inside than out. Many apartments have extra-wide balconies with fantastic views across Manchester and the city looks great from here, particularly at night. We weren't too impressed by the kitchens and bathrooms and the living spaces could have been a larger, but the location is brilliant and City Gate has some of the best-value apartments in town
