Luvthecity's Top 10 Chippies in Liverpool
1. Mr Chips
43 Bold Street, Liverpool, L1 4EU
The name says it all, Mr Chips is the best chippy in Liverpool and it's right in the middle of Bold Street, so it gets all the late-night drunken trade as well as the hungry lunchtime brigade. It's a cheap, no-nonsense chippy with old-style brown tiling and steel counters... perfect!

2. Athena
45 Lime Street, Liverpool, L1 1JQ
Not to be confused with the 1980s poster shops, Athena is a back-to-basics chippy located around the corner from Lime Street Station and in the middle of a row of grotty pubs, but if you're coming home from holiday or you're stuck in the St. John's Shopping Centre with nothing to eat, you could do a lot worse than this place because the chips are superb

3. Kevin's Chippy
56 Park Road, Liverpool, L8
For the thousands of people who chose to live in the docks instead of the city centre, you'll know how few shops and restaurants there are. So Kevin's Chippy on Park Road is a real life-saver if you've got the munchies in Toxteth. It's ann old-style traditional chippy (in a world of chinese takeaways) and the food is great

4. The Takeaway
Myrtle Parade, Liverpool, L7 7EL
Located on the eastern-edge of the city centre in the heart of the Georgian Quarter, The Takeaway serves both English and Chinese food, with the emphasis on traditional fish 'n chips. It's not the most impressive looking chippy and the 1960s parade can feel a bit edgy at night, but it's worth a look

5. Best Kebab Fish & Chips
13 Ranelagh Place, Liverpool, L3 5SB
You're spoilt for choice here, with a Sayers on one side and a Pizza takeaway on the other, all your Midnight munchy needs are catered for! But we love this chippy, it's got old-style Formica tables, blue-vinyl seating and a large steel counter. We recommend grabbing a window seat, it's one of the few chippys in town where you can sit and eat your chips

6. Steve's Fish Bar
143 Breck Road, Liverpool, L4 2QZ
Although it's not right in the city centre, we've included Steve's Fish Bar in our Top 10 Chippy's because it's one of the largest, cleanest and most original chippys in Merseyside. If you've got a car then head up the West Derby Road, left into Belmont Road and Steve's is just opposite the George Pub

7. Hot 'n Tender
39 Leece Street, Liverpool, L1 2TR (0151) 707 8181
This place may be more of a chicken & kebab establishment than an old-style chippy, but it's one of the few takeways that deliver food. So if you're too lazy to get off the sofa you can order kebabs & chips on tap!

8. The New Slater
Slater Street, Liverpool, L1 4BS
It may look a bit grotty on the outside, but The New Slater is a life-saver if you're stumbling around Wood Street late at night, drunk and starving

9. K K Fish & Chips
150 Windsor Street, Liverpool, M8 8EH
A little out of the way this one, but worth the trip if you've got a car, it's only 5-minutes drive to the south-east of the city centre. K K's is an old-fashioned style chippy, a little scruffy looking but great fish and good portions of chips

10. Wing Lee
71 Kensington, Liverpool, L7 8UY
Located a few minutes walk to the east of University Hospital, Wing Lee is your usual Chinese/English takeaway but it's on the main drag out of town and is always busy in the evenings
