Located in the up-and-coming Northern Quarter, Citispace is one of the most interesting pieces of contemporary architecture we've seen. It's a modern take on an Art Deco style with a black-glass and silver-fronted facade. The block has a U-shaped design with a huge 4,500sqft communal garden in the centre of the building. This private space has plenty of planting and decking, and it's quiet too. The kitchens have an innovative standalone design, resembling wardrobes rather than a traditional fitted-kitchen. But these quirky touches make Cityspace a really interesting choice, and they're superb value-for-money too, with one and two-bedrooms over 30% cheaper than comparable blocks. The quality is OK, but Citispace is more about low-cost living than quality and the communal facilities more than make up for this; there's an on-site laundry, a bar/restaurant on the ground floor, CCTV, daytime management office and security until Midnight on weekdays
