Given that Castlefield has had a long industrial heritage, we're always surprised how few warehouses survived. Fortunately a few of them did, and Worsley Mill is a beautifully preserved example. This handsome 6-storey Victorian warehouse is packed with original features and has some of the most authentic loft spaces in Manchester. We particularly like the exposed brick walls, the vaulted ceilings and the chunky iron columns - and the apartment layouts are interesting too. The only factor that prevents Worsley Mill from getting our top 10/10 luvthecity rating is the proximity to the main A57. The historic walls are thick and hide most of the noise, but a quieter location would have made this the finest conversion in Manchester. To the side of the original warehouse is the new-build section of Worsley Mill, a handsome contemporary addition with large, bright apartments and wide balconies
